Shuddhi was founded in December 2025 as a student-led social initiative that works towards improving access to hygiene-related productions and spreading awareness regarding sanitation practices in underserved communities. The project has an integrated approach that tackles both the lack of access to basic resources and also addresses the need for a change in behavior and social attitudes of the society with regard to various hygiene practices.
While the initiative focused on resource access in its initial phase by way of repurposing unused soap products from hotels and converting them into usable bars for redistribution, eventually it expanded its work into a broader program for outreach that involved spreading awareness about hygiene through innovative campaigns, arranging educational resources, and distributing sanitary products to women and young girls.
The project is also focused on creating long-term impact through community participation. It conducts training programs, and by helping in the creation of peer-led networks, Shuddhi contributes to building local capacity and developing the ownership of hygiene practices amongst individuals. The initiative combines education, resource efficiency, and community engagement to create a sustainable and scalable model that can help in improving sanitation practices and outcomes while at the same time also reducing hygiene-related health risks.
